Light the Day!

Barnes & Noble joins with Light One Little Candle to bring children's books to cancer centers across Connecticut

West Hartford, CT -- Light One Little Candle and Barnes & Noble at Blue Back Square are once again joining forces to celebrate and raise awareness for the amazing work of Light One Little Candle Foundation in West Hartford and throughout Connecticut.

On Saturday, April 25, 2009, Barnes & Noble will host a bookfair donating a percentage of all purchases throughout the day to Light One Little Candle. Customers will use special Light One Little Candle Bookfair Vouchers to show their support. Vouchers are available at all West Hartford libraries, on the Light One Little Candle website, in the CT partner hospitals and in Barnes & Noble on the day of the event.

Everyone is welcome to join the festivities. The event is free. The celebration begins at noon with a variety of family friendly entertainment including Playtivity, The KP Singers, storytime, facepainting, a meet and greet with Clifford the Big Red Dog, and a Raffle drawing. Adults will find information on Light One Little Candle and each of their Connecticut partner hospitals. Enter the raffle with a donation of a new Children's book for Light One Little Candle. Prizes include custom jewelry, a digital camera, a Barnes & Noble Gift Certificate and a lovely book gift basket.

This event is made possible with the support of Barnes & Noble at Blue Back Square, Suburban Subaru, Urbandencity, Younique Designs, Olympus America,, Playtivity, the friends of Alex's Lemonade Stand, and The West Hartford Public Libraries. Participants are advised to park in the Isham Garage and combine a library visit with their afternoon activity. The library validates for two hours of free parking.

About Light One Little Candle

Light One Little Candle is a national not-for-profit organization founded at the Bishop's Corner Branch Library in West Hartford, CT, in April 2005. Light One Little Candle promotes reading as a way for adults with cancer to stay connected with the children in their lives. Through the generosity of donors, Light One Little Candle has distributed over 10,000 new children's books to interested patients through its volunteer network in 10 hospitals throughout the country, including Hartford Hospital, Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, Middlesex Hospital and MidState Medical Center in Connecticut; as well as those in New York, Maine, Massachusetts and California.
